What is a Serve Over Display Fridge?
A serve over counter fridge is a commercial display refrigeration cabinet where products are displayed behind the glass front, and designed for assisted service.Commonly used in butchers, cafes and takeaways, serve overs are an essential piece of equipment for any business that needs to display and serve chilled produce.
Features of a Serve Over
Due to their full front glass design, serve over fridges offer full visibility of internal produce to your customers, allowing them to easily choose and purchase products. At Fridgeland, we have both flat and curved glass serve overs available to suit all business aesthetics.
Many serve over counters also include refrigeration storage, meaning additional chilled capacity for quick and easy access for the server.
The rear workspace on serve over counters allow the server space to prep foods whilst also allowing the customer to view products.
Finding the best Serve Over Counter for your business
When choosing the perfect serve over counter it is important to measure the space you have available. Our range of serve over counters vary in width, with options from under 1 meter, to over 3.5 meters. We also offer slimline serve over counters for sites with limited space, or narrow door entry access.
Additionally, the temperature of serve over counters can differ depending on what is being stored. We have standard deli temperature serve over counters which typically have a temperature of <8°c, whereas fresh meat serve overs would need to be kept at a lower temperature of around <2°c
Why Choose a Serve Over Counter?
Serve over counter fridges are generally chosen to offer excellent product visibility to customers, whilst also keeping food produce at the perfect temperature. The front glass design and rear work space allows a great display, and the rear workspace gives a handy prep station for staff.

What temperature should my serve over be?
The working temperature of your display fridge should be set in accordance to what is being stored and displayed. General deli temperature serve over counters (sandwiches, salads etc) should be kept between 1/+10°c.
Fresh meat should be kept at a colder temperature of -2/+4°c, whilst cakes and patisserie products are recommended to be kept within +2/+8°c
Will the serve over fridge come fully assembled?
Depending on the packaging and size of the cabinet, some serve over counters will come fully assembled and crated for safe transportation. However some larger serve over counters will require the front glass fitting on site by a competent person. Our office team will be able to advise which serve over counters will need some assembly on site.
